Last night I arrived in Banff and camped on my own for the first time. It was a little bit scary, to be honest. (I’m such a wimp.) I was awaken in the middle of the night by the rustling of the bag in which I keep my shoes, right outside my tent. I opened my eyes wide, convinced someone was trying to rob me, only to see a squirrel staring at me.
He took off running as soon as I moved, much more scared than I was, but he came back a few times during the night to nibble the plastic bag again, waking me up every time.
I didn’t mind.
I was doing it. I was muting the voice of my fear and camping on my own, plus I had this crazy beautiful view every time I looked out.
And that’s it.
That’s all this post is about.
How fear could’ve stopped me from waking up in a tent with this view.
Hi Audrey !
Oh my goodness, you’re so brave ! I would have been terrified too. I would gladly lose my shoes to a squirrel so I could wake up to such a splendid view. It seems peaceful.
Enjoy your stay !

You are brave to camp alone. You are right about the view though. The Rocky Mountains are so pretty.

Thanks! I was tired of waiting for someone to come with me so I just did it. And yes, so pretty. I’m starting to regret spending just a week here!

I just recently went camping alone with my little dog, and was terrified he mighty get eaten by something if I let my guard down for a second. But he and I survived, and we had a great time doing it. Nice to read about another, similar experience.

That’s some amazing view to wake up to! 😀
I’ve never gone camping (never had any sort of family vacation, and none of my few friends are into camping) so maybe someday I will give it a try, whether it’s by myself or with another person!

You definitely should give it a try! Waking up in a tent and cooking in the woods is amazing. 🙂
