During my trip through West Canada, I decided the best way to experience Banff and Lake Louise was by sleeping in a tent, in the middle of nature.
And that was one of the best decisions of my life.
Don’t take me wrong, I love hostels, and meeting new people, and going out to explore cities with them, but it’s also very important for me once in a while to spend a few days on my own, doing things at my own pace.
I stayed at Lake Louise Campground, which was fenced to prevent bear visits, so I was a little more peaceful at night.
In the morning, I took a 25-minute walk to the “city” of Lake Louise–a few shops and shuttles leading you to the main attractions around–through a little wood that followed the crystal-clear, icy river in the picture above.
Then I hopped in one of the free shuttles as early as I could (trying to avoid the crowds) to go to Lake Louise or Lake Lorraine. Lots of people asked me which one I prefer, and I still honestly can’t answer that question.
Which one is your favorite?
Lake Lorraine
OR
Lake Louise

God, it’s so hard to choose one! I don’t know…. Maybe Lake Lorraine? All of the pictures are so gorgeous. Do you have an Instagram? If not, you should definitely start one with all of these travel pictures.

Yeah! I had to book about a month before and it was hard to get a good spot with a view from my tent, but worth it! I was lucky the weather was so good, too! I hope you get to go one day! 🙂
