Last week, I had the chance to attend the 2017 IFOA in Toronto, because–big news–I won a prize in a writing contest!
The University of Toronto and Penguin Random House Canada work together to offer this amazing award for emerging fiction writers, giving away $4 500 in prizes and printing this beautiful chapbook. The first chapters of the young adult novel I’m working on–Devonna–are in it!
The festival is amazing, and I wish I’d had more time to attend more conferences, but I only had one day in Toronto. So the next morning I walked a little bit around the Distillery District and shopped in St-Lawrence Market, and it was already time to go back home.
On the way back to Québec, we slept in Prescott, at the Colonel’s Inn. And OH MY GOD, this place is amazing. There’s not a lot to do in Prescott itself; it’s a small town along the St-Lawrence River and it’s nice to just walk around. But the highlight for us was the Inn itself.
It was GORGEOUS.
It’s an old historic house and the rooms are so cozy and the service is incredible and I would’ve stayed there a whole week to write my book if I could’ve.
Anyway, it’s always so nice to visit Ontario, but this was probably my favorite trip there, ever!
That trip looks like it was such a great time, I hope you had fun 🙂
