Author: Sarah J. Maas
Genre: Fantasy, YA
Feyre, Rhys, and their close-knit circle of friends are still busy rebuilding the Night Court and the vastly-changed world beyond. But Winter Solstice is finally near, and with it, a hard-earned reprieve.
Yet even the festive atmosphere can’t keep the shadows of the past from looming. As Feyre navigates her first Winter Solstice as High Lady, she finds that those dearest to her have more wounds than she anticipated–scars that will have far-reaching impact on the future of their Court. (Synopsis from Goodreads.)
“To the blessed darkness from which we are born, and to which we return.”
I honestly didn’t know this was a bridge book between the third and fourth installement of this EPIC story, so I’ll admit I was a bit disappointed when I opened this bookmail to find out it was 400 pages less than the previous ones, and that not much action was happening. At first I was even a tad angry that Sarah J. Maas hadn’t just spent her time working on Book 4 instead of this bridge book because my soul needs DRAMA, ya know?
That being said, I realized after a couple of chapters that I grandly needed this book because I’d completely forgotten a few major plotlines or characters, so this was a nice refresh. Also, I think the characters grandly needed this little winter of peace and happinness. Like, honestly, they DESERVED it.
“My mate—who had worked so hard and so selflessly, all without hope that I would ever be with him. We had both fought for that love, bled for it. Rhys had died for it.”
This novel felt a little bit like that Christmas Disney movie of Beauty & the Beast, where all of your favorite characters are finally happy, exchanging gifts, eating a lot, and having snowball battles.
It was nice.
BUT NOW I REALLY NEED BOOK 4 AND DRAMA PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE.
That’s it for me!
