Happy New Year, everyone!
Yes, it’s late, but what can I say. I didn’t especially feel like looking back at 2020, for obvious reasons. Though, I have to admit that it was quite a surprising year, reading-wise. That being said, let’s just dive into it. My favorite reads of 2020! (In no particular order.)
SKYWARD, Brandon Sanderson
This was my first read from this author, and it will NOT be the last. This one was truly epic.
BECOMING, Michelle Obama
I listened to this one as an audiobook (narrated by Michelle Obama herself), and it really made the experience even more amazing. A great, great book.
THE SEVEN HUSBANDS OF EVELYN HUGO, Taylor Jenkins Reid
THIS. I cried for at least 150 pages. THIS. I have no words.
BORN A CRIME, Trevor Noah
Another fabulous audiobook. I laughed, I cried, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be listening to this again one day.
AN EMBER IN THE ASHES, Sabaa Tahir
This book had everything I’m looking for in a fantasy story! It was epic, and I can’t wait to see what happens next to Elias and Laia!
FURYBORN, Claire Legrand
You know when you read a book and whole-heartedly fall in love with it characters. That’s one of these books for me.
ONE OF US IS LYING, Karen McManus
Pretty much read this in one sitting! I don’t read that many thrillers/mystery books. But OMG, this had me at the edge of my seat the whole time! It was really really really good!
BEACH READ, Emily Henry
Hilarious? Touching? Hot banter between two authors in a writing slump? Yes, yes, yes.
So there you have them! My favorite reads of 2020! There are some honorable mentions: Nerve (Jeanne Ryan) Rules for Being a Girl (Candace Bushnell), The Field Guide to the North American Teenager (Ben Philippe), Daisy Jones & the Six (also Taylor Jenkins Reid). And a couple of rereads I really needed like The Hunger Games and All the Bright Places.
So overall, not a bad year. (In reading, I mean. Everything else was the f**king worst.)
